Owen Sage is the emblematic college freshman at Easton Falls University. He studies hard, plays hard, and is incredibly charming. With all the worries about his first year in college, he was not prepared for what would happen next. His way of life was flipped upside down when he was drawn into a different world, a world unbeknownst to him. He mysteriously crossed into another dimension, into the beautiful land of Everville. His tragic excitement was abruptly halted when he discovered that there was a darkness forged against both the natural world, which he knew well, and the new land which he discovered, Everville. He must devise a plan to save both worlds while joining forces with the race of Fron and The Keepers, whom both harbor hidden secrets he must learn in order to gain power over the evil that dwells in The Other In Between.

With a race against time to save both worlds, his short time at Easton Falls did not quite prepare him for the evil, dark forces he must fight in order to conquer The Other In Between.

  4. I look for an intriguing world and I like when fantasy is believable an has something in common with this world, not completely fantastical and difficult to figure out.

  5. You know, fantasy authors always boast of their genre and say that it allows them to "be unique". That is seldom the case. So, I look for a "unique uniqueness". Redundant, but true.

I think this is accomplished when an author takes time to develop a world. You know with the maps that they drafted? I love when the create a new language as well. If you are going to write a longass book, and call it an epic fantasy make it worth the while! :D Oh, and I enjoy reading different points of view. It is not too exciting reading an epic fantasy voiced by one character.

This is my favorite genre, so I tend to be picky. XD

  6. I have to have characters who are sympathetic, likable, strong. Fantasy is great but it's comforting to see a spark of humanity, similarity in a hero/heroine. I can't relate if there is nothing to relate to. Also, if I have to have a dictionary to understand what characters are saying, I tend to give up.

  15. I look for unique & engaging. Characters that I have a vested interest in.

  16. Likable characters cover a multitude of other sins. I recently read a fantasy (not this one) that felt like a straight adaptation of someone's D&D campaign, but it was a fun read because I enjoyed how the characters interacted. An interesting world for those characters to live in is also essential. (Hm. I ought to write about some people in Limbo some time, just for the challenge. :)

  18. Strong, likable, diverse and reasonable characters; real conflicts and problems protagonist(s) needs to overcome; beautifully created world that is also credible and believable. I like when the fantasy world exists in other/parallel dimensions, it is so far, yet so close. You never know when and how you`ll enter it, you probably don`t even know about it`s existence but when it happens - everything changes.

Thanks for making it international and thanks for the print copies, I really appreciate that! :)

  20. I look for a fantastical world, so I guess, great world building.

  21. Diverse and well fleshed out characters and/or races, creative and highly developed world, if it suppose to be epic be sure to make the conflict feel epic, a unique and well thought out magic system, and....well there are so many aspects that go into really great fantasy. It takes a great deal of work and creativity. I applaud the authors that pull it off.
