When success and even love are not enough, you need a miracle...
Daniel Clay has good looks, money, and a rising career as a New York investment advisor. Meanwhile, his personal life is barren of love and family. But when a distant relative dies and leaves him a house in England, Daniel embarks on a life-changing journey—toward love and his soul's awakening.
He meets and falls in love with Claire, a children's palliative care nurse. With her help, he opens his home and heart to comfort young patients in their final days. As Claire tends to the children in a beautiful glassed-in room overlooking the sea, Daniel prays for miracles. Just when his prayers are answered, a mysterious illness strikes him down and relentlessly drains away his life. With no hope for a cure, Daniel holds fast to a deep secret that he can never reveal. And now, he needs a miracle of his own.
Origins of The Living Room... and How I Wrote It
I can honestly tell you that I never thought about writing a book or being an author at any time in my life before this project. It all came about in a dream. It was late one night back in July 2002 when I was staring at the clock next to my bed trying to fall asleep. I closed my eyes and calmly fell into a deep sleep. I just remember it being very peaceful, with light music playing and all I could see was blackness.
Then all of the sudden, it was like someone pushed play and I was watching a movie. An opening scene started out of the darkness and I watched what felt like a 3-hour movie with characters, locations and even a soundtrack. It ended with instructions rolling up the screen as credits normally would after a movie.
I opened my eyes and was shocked to see that after all of this had transpired for me, only a few minutes of time had passed on the clock. I got out of bed, sat down at my desk and wrote everything down on a pad of paper. (Which I still have to this day) That was now more than 10 years ago. It's been a decade of struggling with the process of writing, publishing, and dealing with my own self-doubt about the project and sharing the story.
Even after all this time has passed, I was still unable to forget the story or the instructions to share it that rolled in the credits. So I decided that now was the time.
The Living Room was my dream.
I hope you enjoy the story,
