❤author: Willow Rose {revisited} Interview and Giveaway!

❤ I'm thrilled to have author, Willow Rose, return to the blog! Last year, I interviewed her (back when she wrote under T.P. Boje), and now she's back with a new paranormal romance. Some of the questions are repeats, but I love how she's developed and expanded on her responses since then. Welcome back to ¡Miraculous!, Willow! Tell us about your newest release, Savage.

In Savage, we meet Christian, who is a young man torn between the world of science and the world of magic. He has left his country of Denmark and is going to Florida to go to med school. He meets Aiyana, who is a spirit-filled girl living in a completely different world than he is. Her family is descendants from the Timucua Indians that lived in Florida before the Spaniards came. They live in a world of magic, music, and laughter and Christian feels so drawn to them. At the same time, he has a violent encounter with a savage beast in the swamps of Florida, an encounter that makes him doubt everything he has always believed.

❤ What inspired you to write it?

The story in Savage is somewhat inspired by my husband's story. When he was only 19, he was sent to Florida by his parents to live with a very wealthy family. The year he spent there changed him and in many ways formed who he is today. The women in this book are inspired by my daughters. I have actually dedicated the book to them. To all of my daughters. I have two young ones of my own and one grown-up stepdaughter. They are all so full of beautifully innocent magic.

How did you first get published? Tell us your call story.

I wrote my first novel when I was 28. It took me two years to write it. It was a thriller in Danish that was published by one of the big publishing houses in Denmark where I lived at the time. I still love that book even though it met a lot of criticism. I learned a great deal from that experience. Among it, that you cannot write books to please people. You have to write a story because you love that story and those characters and then take the beating you get. There will always be someone who doesn't like it. I have written three books in Danish now that are all published in Denmark, Norway, and Germany under my maiden name. Furthermore I have written six novels in English under the name Willow Rose. I believe I have gotten a lot better since my first novel and now receive better reviews. Savage has so far gotten awesome reviews that I am very proud of.

❤ How much of your actual life gets written into your fictional stories?

I take what I can from here and there. From people I meet, from stories I hear, from movies, from other books, etc. My life isn't that interesting, so I have to borrow a lot from others. I love people and I love writing stories about them.

Give aspiring writers a piece of advice you wish you would have known before getting published.

Don't stop just because someone tells you that it's no good. You'll get better and better the more you write. No one expects you to peak with your first novel.

❤ What's a question you always want to be asked during interviews? How would you answer it?

What's your dream?

To write stories that stick with people even after they put the book down. I want them to remember the characters and want to know how they are doing.

❤ What's next for you?

I am currently writing the sequel to Savage that I hope to have out soon. I am planning on writing three in total about Christian and Aiyana, the love of his life. In the first book, they are in their twenties, in the second in their thirties, and in the last one, they will have grown kids. It is sort of a family saga and I have fallen completely in love with the characters and their stories. I am also planning on writing a book about Aiyana and her childhood and maybe one about her sister too. I think they are all so wonderful that they each deserve their own book.

❤ I'll definitely be on the lookout for those! Where can you be found on the web?
